VPN Configuration Support | How to Configure VPN Server and Clients

The VPN or the Virtual Private Network is a secured computer network created on an unsecure network such as the Internet and since it became a widely used type of network it is useful that everyone knows how to realize the VPN configuration. The VPN is used by many companies that allow access to their remote users who are external to the network. Since they have become very popular secure type of networks everyone should know how to configure VPN server and client. VPN clients are easy to configure and even the beginners in networks can do it. The operating system has the VPN connection built in so the only thing you have to do is to manage the operating system itself.
Configuring VPN clients begins with making sure that you are connected to the Internet. Then go to Start>Control Panel>Network Connections>Create a New Connection. This will open the New Connection Wizard. Click Next and then click Connect to a Network at my work place and then click Next to continue. Choose the Virtual private network connection over Dial-up connection and then click Next to continue. Now you will be asked to select the type of connection you will use and then click Next. At this point you are asked to type the name of the host or the IP of the computer you are willing to connect to and the click Next. You may be asked if you want to use a Smart Card or not so choose the option you desire and then click Next to continue. Your connection will be verified and then you will be asked whether you want to create a desktop shortcut of your connection or not and then click Next and Finish and that is it.
When it comes to configuring VPN servers you may have to try first the router VPN configuration because in some cases you cannot configure a VPN server without first configuring the VPN router. If you want to configure VPN server go to Start>Settings>Network Connections>Create a New Connection and the New Connection Wizard will open. Click Next and then choose Set up Advanced Connection button and click Next to continue. For the next steps follow this sequence Accept incoming connections>Next>Next>Allow virtual private connection>Next. At this point you are asked to add the user accounts that will be able to connect to this VPN and then Click Next. Highlight the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) button and click Properties. Choose the way you want the remote users to get their IP address and make sure the IP scheme is the same as on your server. But keep in mind that you may have to realize the router VPN configuration before your VPN server will start functioning.
